Alstom builds the world’s biggest bogies
Since April, Alstom plant in Le Creusot (France) has released 12 bogies designed for Coco locomotives in China. Measuring close to seven metres long and weighing more than 26.5 tonnes, they are considered as the biggest bogies in the world.
These bogies were designed to resist temperature extremes ranging from - 40°C to + 40°C. Each of them includes 3 axles, 6 braking units and 3 engines with a power output of 1650 kW each.
Once running, the locomotives on which these bogies will be fitted on will be able to reach a maximum commercial service speed of 120km/h. Capable of pulling loads of up to 8000 tonnes, with a power output of 9600 kW, these will be the most powerful locos in the world.
